been saying this to clients for years and they never listen lol

Right so I had a session this morning and one of my regulars skipped the warm-up again because she was "short on time" and then — surprise — spent the last 20 minutes half-arsing everything because her hips felt stiff and her output was just flat. Happens every single time. Honestly a proper warm-up isn't just about not pulling something. It's like... your nervous system needs a minute to actually wake up. Blood flow, joint temp, muscle activation — all of it matters before you start throwing yourself into box jumps or heavy compound stuff. I've noticed on the days I actually do 8-10 minutes of something intentional before I train — not just a slow jog to nowhere — I'm sharper, I move better, I get more out of the session. Not like dramatically more, but noticeably. To be fair I used to rush it too so I'm not judging, I just started paying attention to how my body felt at the 15-minute mark depending on what I did beforehand. The difference is real tbh.

how long do you actually need for a warm-up to make a difference — like is 5 minutes enough or is that still too rushed?

the nervous system point is so real, I always think of it as waking up the body's prana before you ask anything of it — skipping that and then wondering why everything feels heavy

hip flexibility is basically gone if I skip it, doesn't matter how mobile I normally am
