honestly just figured this out after years of getting it wrong

So I used to train on basically nothing. Like, a black coffee and vibes. Wondered why I was gassed after 20 minutes of a YouTube HIIT, turns out your body needs actual fuel, who knew lol. Took me ages to land on something that works. Now it's usually a banana and a small bowl of oats about an hour before I start. Nothing fancy. Sometimes I'll mix a bit of whey into the oats if I know it's going to be a longer session — legs or something where I'm going to properly suffer. The matcha I've been having in the morning helps me feel a bit more switched on too, to be fair, less of that sluggish start. But the oats are the main thing. Cheap, dead easy, kids eat the same stuff so I'm not making three different breakfasts. I tried rice cakes for a bit and honestly I'd rather eat cardboard.

aye the banana and oats combo is solid, I do something similar before long runs. took me way too long to stop training fasted and wondering why my splits were falling apart after 10k

same, did fasted training for about a year thinking it was the smart move. performance was a joke in hindsight

a whole year, same here — convinced myself it was some kind of discipline thing

the splits thing is so real, I had the same with cycling — kept thinking I was just unfit 😅

same, I used to bonk so hard around 8k on empty, took embarrassingly long to make the connection
