hot weather is genuinely ruining my skin and I've only just clocked why

So I've been noticing my skin feels tight and dull even though I'm drinking loads of water and layering my hyaluronic acid like religion. Took me an embarrassingly long time to realise — it's not about drinking more, it's about how fast your skin loses moisture when it's hot out. Transepidermal water loss basically goes through the roof in warm weather. I'm not a dermatologist but I've read enough to know that heat speeds up that process and if your barrier isn't in good shape, you're just... fighting a losing battle. What's actually helped me more than anything is going back to basics. Lighter moisturiser but more of it. Misting during the day — sounds fussy but genuinely makes a difference by late afternoon. And I've been consistent with my collagen in the mornings which I think helps from the inside, skin feels plumper overall tbh. The thing is, heat makes you forget to look after your skin properly because you're sweating and it feels oily and you just want to strip everything back. That instinct is basically the worst thing you can do for your barrier.
