my pm routine, finally nailed it
Right so it took me an embarrassingly long time to stop overcomplicating this. I'm not a dermatologist but six years of trial and error has taught me one thing — the nights I skip half the steps, my skin still looks fine in the morning.
What I actually do now:
- micellar water or cleansing balm first, just to lift the day off
- gentle foaming cleanser after (double cleanse is the one thing I'll never drop)
- a hydrating toner, just pat it in, nothing fancy
- serum — retinol two or three nights a week, otherwise just a niacinamide one
- moisturiser, something thicker than my morning one
That's it. Five steps and maybe 8 minutes. The nights I try to add an eye cream and a face oil and a sheet mask on top of everything... honestly I just end up doing none of it and falling asleep with my makeup on.
I think the biggest thing was accepting that consistent and simple beats elaborate and occasional every single time.
