skipped the warm-up once too often
Right so I've been properly guilty of this — clip in, go hard straight away, especially on early morning rides when I'm already running late. Paid for it last week, tight hip flexors the whole climb and my cadence was all over the place.
Took me an embarrassingly long time to actually commit to even 8-10 minutes easy spinning before I push anything. As a pharmacist I know the physiology, synovial fluid, muscle temp, all of it — and I was still skipping it because I thought I was too pressed for time. Classic.
Honestly the difference in how the first 20 minutes of a ride feels is not subtle. Knees especially, which matters to me given I'm already on collagen. Warm-up isn't recovery, it's just... part of the session. Took me ages to actually treat it that way.
