spring skin is a thing apparently

So my skin has been doing something weird this last few weeks and I only just clocked what it is — it's adjusting to the season. I know that sounds obvious but honestly I never really thought about it until a client came in asking why her skin felt suddenly dull and slightly dry even though winter was over. Basically what happens is: UV exposure starts creeping up in March/April even when it doesn't feel that warm, wind is still brutal (Cardiff wind, you know), and the skin barrier is basically dealing with changing humidity levels all at once. That combo can leave skin looking a bit flat or feeling tight even if you've been doing everything right. A few things I've been doing differently that seem to actually help: - Not ditching the rich moisturiser yet — I nearly swapped to a lighter one in March and my skin was not happy. Waited until properly warmer temps. Mid-April felt right this year. - SPF every day, not just sunny days — UVA doesn't care about clouds. This isn't me being dramatic, the data on this is solid. - Hydration from the inside matters more than people think — I've been adding collagen to my morning drink for a while now and tbh I do notice a difference in how my skin holds moisture through the day. The research on collagen peptides and skin hydration is decent enough that I include it in some of my client plans, mind you it's not magic. - Eating more seasonal veg — purple sprouting broccoli is everywhere right now in Cardiff market and it's full of vitamin C which is genuinely important for collagen synthesis. That part is very well evidenced. I think we overcomplicate spring skincare. It's mostly just: don't strip your barrier, protect from UV, eat your veg. There's nice.

did you end up figuring out what actually helped your client's barrier recover — was it just hydration or something else?
