the one thing I kept getting wrong before long runs

Right so I've been logging my training data obsessively for about eight months now and I finally spotted the pattern I'd been ignoring. My worst splits consistently happened on runs where I'd eaten either too close to the start or basically nothing at all. Like I genuinely thought I was being disciplined by training fasted but my pace data just... didn't agree. Timing is honestly the thing nobody talks about enough. I do better with something small 60-90 minutes out rather than right before. Obvious in hindsight but it took me embarrassingly long to connect those dots in my Garmin stats. Aye it was brutal realising I'd been sabotaging my own marathon prep for months tbh.

fasted training wrecked my pace for weeks before I actually checked the data, banana about an hour out changed it pretty quickly

took me ages to figure out the 60-90 min thing too, kept thinking eating right before was fine
