what I eat before training actually matters (took me ages to figure this out)

Honestly it sounds obvious when I say it out loud but I spent probably two years just... winging it before sessions. Sometimes training fasted, sometimes eating a full meal 20 mins before and then wondering why I felt sick during deadlifts. Classic. What's actually been working for me lately — banana with a spoon of almond butter about an hour before, sometimes a small bowl of oats if it's a longer strength session. Nothing fancy. I used to overthink it massively, reading about nutrient timing and getting completely lost in it. To be fair my energy levels feel so much more consistent now than when I was just grabbing whatever. The oats especially — I know it sounds a bit boring but they genuinely keep me going through the whole session without that horrible heavy feeling. Mind you I'm still figuring out the sweet spot for hot yoga days because that's a completely different thing, eating too close to that is grim.

the eating right before and feeling sick thing is so real, did that a few times in my first month and couldn't work out why I felt awful 😭 oats before a session has been my go-to lately actually
